About Best Time to Ride

Updated November 2026 · weather data 2022–2026

Best Time to Ride is a free trip planner for kitesurfing, wing foiling, windsurfing, surfing, foiling and SUP. For each of our 402 spots in 77 countries it shows when to go, month by month.

Where the numbers come from

The figures come from years of hourly weather data: windy days, wave height, water and air temperature, rain and sun. For each spot we compare several weather models and use the one that fits it best, and we check the seasons against what local schools, riders and guides say. How we count windy days

Weather data: Open-Meteo. Wave buoys: NOAA and Copernicus Marine. Photos: Wikimedia Commons, free licences (authors are credited on each page). Places near the spots: OpenStreetMap.

Who makes it

Best Time to Ride is a passion project by Mantas, a rider. It has no ads and no paid listings.
