Mui Ne is a long beach on Vietnam's south-central coast, near Phan Thiet. During the dry season, roughly November to April, the northeast monsoon brings reliable wind most afternoons, often building through the day.
The wind is onshore to side-onshore, with chop and waves along the beach. On bigger days there can be a strong shorebreak, which makes launching and landing tricky, so take care getting in and out. The bottom is sandy. The water is warm all year, so boardshorts or a lycra are usually enough. Some sections of the beach have been affected by erosion and fishing activity, so check with local schools about the best launch spots. Several schools and rental centres operate here. Outside the windy season, conditions are much lighter and less reliable.
