Kulim Park

Sports: Kitesurfing, Wingfoiling, Windsurfing, Parawing, SUP
Kulim Park is a reserve on Tauranga Harbour, in the suburb of Otumoetai, in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty. It is a go-to beginner spot, with flat water, a sandy bottom and park facilities on shore, including parking, toilets and grass for rigging.
The harbour offers sheltered conditions, and Mount Maunganui provides a scenic backdrop. The tide has a big effect: at low tide the water near shore can be very shallow, so the best time to ride is around mid to high tide, and foilers should watch their depth. The wind directions that work best depend on the season and the local terrain, so ask locals. The water is cool for much of the year, so a wetsuit is usually needed. Keep clear of boat traffic in the harbour channels.
