Keros is a long, undeveloped sandy beach on the eastern side of Limnos, an island in the northern Aegean. In summer the Meltemi blows from the north and north-east for days at a time, arriving cross-shore and steady over the open bay. The inside of the bay is shallow, with flat to choppy water for learning and freestyle, while further out the wind builds waves for wave riding.
The beach has a kite and windsurf centre and a campsite, and the surrounding area is quiet, with dunes and little building. July and August bring the strongest winds, often 20 knots or more, with June and September a little lighter. Facilities are limited away from the centre, so bring what you need. The airport is near Moudros, about half an hour's drive away.
