Jericoacoara

Jijoca de Jericoacoara, Ceará, Brazil

Sports: Kitesurfing, Wingfoiling, Windsurfing, Surfing, Surf foiling, Parawing

Best time to go: October

Jericoacoara is a village inside a national park on the coast of Ceará, in northeastern Brazil. From about July to January, strong and reliable trade winds blow from the east, making it one of Brazil's best-known wind destinations.

Near the village there is a wave point for experienced riders, with rocky sections. The nearby Preá beach offers flatter water and more space, and is popular with wing and kite riders. The bottom is mostly sand, with rocks in places. The water is warm all year. Because the village is inside a national park, access by car is restricted and rules apply, so check the current regulations. There are schools and rental centres in the village and at Preá. Watch out for other riders and swimmers, especially near the village.
