Jullouville is a small seaside resort in the Manche, in Normandy, a few kilometres south of Granville, and its beach is one of the long, wide stretches of sand that line the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, which can be seen across the water. Local riders call it a home spot: the beach faces west, so south-westerly winds blow side-onshore and bring small waves for freeride and wave practice, and north to north-westerly winds also work well. In summer a light thermal often fills in during the afternoon.

The space is the main attraction: the beach is huge and rarely crowded, which makes it suitable for learning to kite. The tidal range in this bay is among the biggest in Europe, so the water's edge moves a long way; at low tide the sea is far out over flat sand and shallow pools, and the tide comes back quickly, so plan sessions around mid to high tide and keep an eye on it. In summer the beach is shared with swimmers, so check the local rules for kite zones. The water is cold for most of the year, and late spring to early autumn is the most pleasant season.
