Best time to go: June, September–October

La Saladita is a small village on the Pacific coast of Guerrero, north-west of Troncones and Zihuatanejo. Its point produces a long, slow left that peels over a mix of sand and rocks, and it is best known as a longboard wave.

South and south-west swells arrive from about April to October and give the most consistent surf; small northerly swells in winter can also bring rideable waves. Light north-easterly and easterly land breezes keep the faces clean in the morning, while sea breezes usually make it bumpy by the afternoon. On small and medium days the wave is forgiving and suits beginners and improving surfers on big boards, as well as SUP and surf foil riders; bigger swells make it faster and more powerful. The line-up can get crowded with longboards, so share waves and keep clear of beginners. Rocks lie on the inside, especially at low tide. The rainy season from June to October brings heat, humidity and the risk of tropical storms. The water is warm all year, so boardshorts are enough.
